Jana H. Effertz graduated from Hamline University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in History and Political Science and minoring in Religious Studies. She earned her law degree from Hamline University School of Law in 2001. Jana clerked for the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office in the felony adult prosecution unit during law school. Immediately following law school she worked for the North Star Resource Group in tax and estate planning. Jana moved with her husband to Owatonna in 2004 and began work with a local law firm, eventually opening up her own office with a partner. In 2008, Jana opened up her own firm, Jana H. Effertz Law Office, P.A. Her practice specializes in bankruptcy and family law.

Serving the Community

Jana is admitted to practice in all state courts in Minnesota and the United States Federal District Court for the District of Minnesota. Jana is a member of the Steele County, Fifth District, and Minnesota State Bar Associations. Jana served on the Board of Directors for CONTACT (a non-profit organization that provides a help line and reassurance calls to people in Steele, Dodge and Waseca counties) for 5 years. She served on the steering committee for Kid’s Korner Educare Centers, Inc. during their capital campaign and expansion. In her spare time, Jana enjoys spending time with her young family, running, coaching and being active in the community.
